About Us

C♯ is an organization which develops programs that contribute to the growth of a supportive musical community: a place where members are encouraged to unwind from academics by challenging themselves as singers, performers, and leaders. This community is home to the C♯ Singers, our competitive a cappella group, and the D♭ Singers, our serious choir group. Each group is comprised of students dedicated to growing as musicians and fostering the musical community at CMU.

Founding

C♯ began in Fall 2012, when 5 SCS freshmen ended stressful late nights in Gates with music and video games. As the year went on and their love for music grew, the party decided to continue singing under the name C♯ as a tribute to... well, you get the idea. In Fall 2013, Emily Yeh and Ivan Wang founded C♯, inspired by the quirky community at CMU and encouraged by the efforts against stress in SCS.

Music

C♯'s music selection ranges from classics and pop artist mixes to video game compositions and modern mashups. Recent songs range from Light in the Hallway, Shrek Medley, and Baba Yetu to Chosen Family and I'm a Train.

Mission

C♯ is a guild of competitive and performance groups that develop collaborative learning, support, and vocal performance opportunities and programs that contribute to the growth of a supportive learning community. The community is built as a platform for pursuing the cooperative growth of casual and experienced vocal performers and groups.

¬∃x:ℕ.(S(x*x)=0). But we can define a new type "ℕ+unit" and three overloaded operations on this type: a + b := 0; a * b := 1 if a=() and b=() else 0; S(a) := 0 if a=1 else 2. Then ∃x:ℕ+unit.(S(x*x)=0), and ℕ+unit is a ring as much as ℕ is.
